Frequently Asked Questions

At BVF Photography, we are more than happy to answer any questions you may have. We have compiled a list of questions and answers that we are frequently asked for your benefit.

CONTACT us today to receive more details about the services we provide.

Can you work at all venues?

Many venues will nowadays not allow professional photographers to work on their premises unless they are covered by public liability insurance. We have both public liability and professional indemnity insurance, and are also CRB checked. Thanks to this, you can book us with complete confidence.

How many photos will we get?

We will give you all the photos taken with the exception of duplicates. On average, this means between 500-800 photos on your DVD, all of which will be individually edited to ensure the highest quality.

Are your photos in black and white or colour?

We give you a mixture of black and white and colour photographs. However, we will discuss your requirements with you before your wedding day to ensure your photos are exactly what you want, and of course we are happy to include Coloursplash if requested.

What is your style of working?

We want your wedding to be as stress-free as possible, so you and your guests can feel at ease and thoroughly enjoy your big day. Our relaxed, friendly, and inconspicuous style of working is frequently commented upon by our many satisfied couples who have been amazed that we have managed to capture so many beautiful photos with the minimum of fuss and disruption. We seamlessly work as a team – Bob normally taking the formal photos while Vickie concentrates on the more candid shots (it is frequently these shots which are the most popular, bringing back treasured memories for years to come). But our roles are completely interchangeable – and often are! We are flexible and experienced in all styles of photography – the choice is yours.

Can we obtain prints of our photos?

You will be given a copyright-free DVD of all your images for you to print out and share. However, we also give the opportunity of purchasing prints in a variety of sizes and finishes, which is particularly popular with your guests who may have travelled far to be with you on your wedding day. Once you have your DVD and photobook (we deliver these to you personally as soon as possible after your return from honeymoon), we will put a selection of your wedding on our website, along with a password-protected link to your complete album, for your friends and relatives to view and order prints if they would like. The password will be given to you to pass to as few or as many as you wish.

Will we be able to order a wedding album of our choice of photos?

We include, free of charge, a high-quality 25x28cm photobook with all our packages, using our favourite photos of your wedding day. By using our choice of photos, the book will be ready to give you when we deliver your DVD (normally as soon as you return from honeymoon). However, some couples request a wedding album using photos of their own choosing. We offer a wide range of wedding albums to suit all tastes and budgets.

Do you provide engagement or pre-wedding shoots?

We advise all couples to have an engagement or pre-wedding shoot. A pre-wedding shoot is included in our Platinum Package, but can be booked separately for £150 (up to 2 hours’ coverage at a mutually agreed venue). The value of these shoots is not just the beautiful photos you will get on a copyright-free DVD to cherish for ever (perfect for photos at your reception venue) but you will get used to being photographed by us. So, on your wedding day, you will be much more relaxed. Many of our grooms in particular have commented on how helpful this has been, and even expressed surprise at the fact they actually enjoyed the experience!

What are the advantages of two photographers?

No matter how good, no photographer can be in two places at the same time, and therefore many once-in-a-lifetime moments can be missed. We are both highly experienced wedding photographers, and by working together, we unobtrusively capture your day as it unfolds from different viewpoints and angles. We ensure your photos truly reflect the beauty, magic and often humour, of your wedding day.

Do you ever photograph more than one wedding a day?

No - our time on your wedding day is completely yours. No matter what package you have booked, we would never photograph more than one wedding a day. We also remain flexible, so that even on your wedding day, if you regret not booking us for a longer time, we are free to negotiate additional cover.

What happens if you are ill on our wedding day?

This is another obvious advantage with having two photographers. In the unlikely event that one of us was ill, the other is a highly experienced wedding photographer and fully competent at covering your wedding alone. However, another professional photographer has agreed to cover for us if required. We hope this will never happen, but your wedding day is so special it is nice to have this fall back in place, just in case.

We are getting married abroad – would you be able to photograph our wedding?

We are happy to travel abroad for your wedding or blessing. We have photographed weddings in America and Italy, and have recently returned from photographing a delightful blessing in Poland. We would be happy to discuss your requirements and give you a quote – you would probably be pleasantly surprised.

What areas do you cover?

We live in Kent, on the borders of Greater London. We are therefore well situated to cover weddings in most parts of London, Kent, Surrey, and Sussex at no additional charge. However, we have also photographed weddings from much further afield, including Wales and Norfolk, so, no matter where your wedding is being held, please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss further. We cover all weddings, big or small, as well as civil ceremonies and blessings.

We are interested in booking BVF Photography – what happens next?

Please either phone or email to find out more. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have and to discuss your requirements. We would then organise to meet with you both. This gives you a chance to get to know us (and us a chance to know you too before your wedding). We would then discuss your wedding plans in detail to ensure we know exactly your wishes for the day. If you would like to proceed, you will be asked to pay a £100 holding deposit.

What do you mean by “no hidden extras”?

All of our wedding packages include full coverage by two professional photographers, a copyright-free, high-quality DVD/USB of all your images, online web gallery, and a lovely 25x28cm photobook (our gift to you of our favourite photos). We guarantee that, with all our packages, there are literally no hidden extras.
